The Informers, staring Mickey Rourke

The Informers is set to release in April 2009, and features Mickey Rourke, Billy Bob Thornton and Kim Basinger. Mickey and Kim starred in 9 1/2 Weeks together, and this movie seems to be equally racy with tons of nudity.

Unfortunately, The Informers was also the worst reviewed movie at Sundance this year.

Sorry, Mickey! I'm sure Ironman 2 (2010) will be much better.

Well, he didn't win the Oscar, but Mickey gets my vote for being a cool guy who loved his little chihuahua, Loki. Loki lived to a ripe old age of 18 years. Let's hope Mickey gets some good movie roles this next year

Got Jason???

The new Friday the 13th is a retelling of the original Jason- in- the -hockey- mask story. As it opens, we see Jason's mother tormenting and murdering campers who killed her son. Next, we see five college kids in the present hiking through the woods looking fora huge stash of marijuana buds.

Once again we have the scenario of the horny teen-agers cavorting in the woods and being slashed in very creative ways. and six weeks later, Clay Miller (Jared Padalecki) comes to Crystal Lake looking for his missing sister and he runs into another group of wild college kids looking for a fun weekend at a cabin on the lake. Once again, violence ensues.

The story is as simple as this. People go into the woods to do something naughty and Jason kills them. The old Jason may be known for carrying around a machete, but this Jason gets pretty creative for a guy who is supposedly mildly retarded. Bear traps, a bow and arrow, an ice pick, an ax, anything sharp will do for this monster.

But what can I say.....I liked the film. Jared Padalecki is also in the tv drama Supernatural

Taken satisfies my inner urge for badass vigilante action........... father pulling out all the stops to rescue his kidnapped daughter from white slavers

Liam Neeson plays Bryan Mills, a former spy who prefers to keep his previous work in the past. When his daughter Kim (Maggie Grace) asks him what he does, he simply answers that he prevented “bad things from happening.” And that is where things get interesting

He keeps moving towards the goal of finding and rescuing his daughter. And even better, all of this is done to a group of characters that nobody could find one remote thought of sympathy for. Every time he killed another bad guy I cheered!!!

Go see it and tell me you like it as much as i did.....

Slumdog Millionaire: "Best Film"?

I had the chance to watch this movie for free tonight, so I thought I'd better watch at least one of the many Oscar-nominated films for next month.

A few comments about the film:

It definitely makes you appreciate growing up in the US.
I thought "Lakita" (played by Freida Pinto) was the most beautiful Bollywood actress I'd ever seen.
The scene where Jamal jumps down into the contents of the worst outhouse ever was disgusting to say the least.

While I thought it was a really great movie, and had me on the edge of my seat towards the end, I wonder if it's worthy of 'Best Film.' I can see how it could get so many nominations (10). And it won a SAG award tonight, too (the Producers' Guild of America Award). But, I have a feeling the 'Best Film' award will go to Brad Pitt's movie, which I haven't had much interest in seeing.

Best Picture Vote?

For the first time in a while, I have seen AND enjoyed (for different reasons) all five nominations for Best Picture (don't forget, Feb. 22nd @ the Oscars). My vote goes to Slumdog; awesome pic. Yesterdays news that it is just now screening in India with some trepidation is interesting. "The" dream in India is to make it; just like the actors from Slumdogs.

IMHO: Paul Fart - Mall Flop

As we approach the Oscars and the number of movies that are up for nomination that I have yet to see continues to grow, I have to become very selective about the movies I spend my lunch money on. So when Erik dragged me and my lil sis to see Paul Blart: Mall Cop last Friday, I wasn't stoked, but at least he payed. I figured I'd get at least a laugh or two from it. And that's all I got: two chuckles and a whole lot of, "what are you doing with your career, Kevin James???"

Truthfully, I think it's Happy Madison Productions that's lost it's mojo and Kevin James is just a willing participant that needs to go back to sitcom or stand-up. I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, You Don't Mess with the Zohan, and now Paul Blart:Mall Cop were all weak-sauce! Bring back Billy and Happy and Grandma's Boy, please!

How it's top of the box-office right now is just sick: sold-out, watered-down, family-friendly flop!

Calling All Fright Freaks and CSI Fans

- Jack the Ripper remains one of the most curious serial killers of all time, and for those of us who follow the HORROR genre this mystery madman is the perfect subject for David Ondaatje's "The Lodger". Like in the Zodiac case, we've never figured out just who was responsible for the scores of female victims left lifeless in London's slums more than a century ago. Alfred Molina stars as the LAPD detective obsessed with capturing this new Ripper copycat killer, while Donal Logue, Hope Davis and Simon Baker all step in as possible suspects. It's a terrific cast and the tale is timeless so keep your eyes open...its coming in a few weeks

Review: Mirrors

I don't recall seeing commercials for this movie when it was in theaters, but the TV spammed me with news of its upcoming DVD release for weeks.

Mirrors stars the bad ass Jack Bauer. (Upon hearing that he was played by Kiefer Sutherland, Jack Bauer killed Sutherland. Jack Bauer gets played by no man.) Being a huge fan of 24, I immediately put it on my Netflix queue and bumped it to #1. Netflix delivered Mirrors today, which was unexpected since it was listed as a "long wait."

So we pop it in tonight and not five minutes into the movie, some guy slits his throat from ear to ear. Not for the weak stomachs out there. The next 45 minutes or so were all set in the dark and not very fascinating, and I nearly fell asleep. Basically, Jack Bauer and his family are the target of an evil demon that attacks them through mirrors or anything with a reflection. There are a few jumpy moments throughout to startle you. The last 20 minutes are the best, and the ending has an unexpected twist.

Unfortunately, Jack did not deliver in this movie. I give it about 2 stars.
